Upmarket sparrow - you do make me smile. Does that make a raven an upmarket crow? 😛

Agree with you on the tea but I’m neither a sparrow or a dunnock. I’m the solitary jay that flies in when no one is watching, scoops up a tasty titbit and flies off to eat it in peace and quiet.

I think I'd be a sparrow with the occasional delusion of being a Dunnock. I'm afraid my knowledge of the different species of birds is equal to my knowledge of different types of cars - woeful. Regarding making tea, I just chuck a teabag in the cup so it's always milk second (thank goodness you didn't include the Scon(e) debate...)

Nice title, by the way, haha

Not sure what we are, we do though have a single Dunnock that visits on occasions. The Sparrows (which used to come in reasonable numbers) appear as often as snow in Redland. We love the Blackcap who sometimes stays for a very harty meal. Who doesn’t like someone that tacks the trouble of appearing to put on some headgear before popping over.

Ooh, now that’s interesting. I had a pair of black caps (male and female, very old fashioned) in my garden once… but only once😞 obviously you are in a nicer part of the neighbourhood..

Yes we are, as sometimes we have deliveries of mince pies. Talking which, there is a rumour of a homemade marmalade cake being available for sampling on Wednesday afternoon?

I'd like to be a Dunnock but I have a sneaky suspicion that I'd fall into the Sparrow brigade!

I find it really hard not to comment on this column‘s title.

And to answer your question - you’re a sparrow. Not for the football or any of those things. Just because they are a very social and family loving bunch.
